First off: Our Weekend 2 Day 3 slideshow is finally completed, all 145 shots of it. Enjoy! (Wrap-ups from George Paul and David Hall are still to come.)
But that was yesterday. Today, as always happens the day after Coachella ends, there were follow-up tour announcements, this time from Friday night headliner the Black Keys; Saturday’s Sahara tent competitor against Radiohead on the main stage, Kaskade; and Sunday afternoon party-starter Santigold (pictured).
The latter, whose second album (Master of My Make Believe) drops this week, will be back June 1 to undoubtedly pack Club Nokia in the L.A. Live complex. Tickets, $25-$30, go on sale Friday, April 27, at 10 a.m.
All we know about the Keys’ fall plans comes straight from drummer Patrick Carney, who tweeted this (as is) not long after the duo’s John Fogerty-enhanced performance this past weekend: “We will be coming back to California in October. 10-4 San Diego Sports Arena, 10-5 Los Angeles Staples Center, 10-8 Anaheim Honda Center.” More details when we hear.
Kaskade, meanwhile, has potentially grander plans for his Staples Center debut, seeing as his Freaks of Nature show on July 27 will be the first-ever solo EDM (electronic dance music) production to headline the arena. It also will be the first L.A. appearance from Chicago-born DJ Ryan Raddon since his back-to-back gigs at the Hollywood Palladium in 2010.
Tickets, $20-$95, also go on sale Friday at 10 a.m., with pre-sales underway Wednesday at the same time.
But wait, there’s more: Right after I posted this, I noticed two more Coachella acts that instantly added post-fest stops, both at the Observatory in Santa Ana. The Head and the Heart will appear there on June 4, with the Moondoggies and Husky opening, $20. Meanwhile, Gardens & Villa will play the venue’s Constellation Room on May 18, $10. Both of those shows go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
